Loading Screen

Background Images

Having the loading screen display custom images works differently in S2 as the images now need to be compiled.

First, place the raw image file into content/<addon name>/panorama/images/map_icons/screenshots/1080p/. In the Material Editor, create a new Csgo Composite Generic material, and set its color texture with the screenshot image.

info

If Csgo Composite Generic cannot be found, untick 'show recommended materials' and tick 'show dev materials' at the bottom of the texture types menu.

Afterwards, save the material under the same directory but with a strict naming format of:

<map_name>_png or <map_name>_1_png (up to 9).

As the naming convention suggests, having more than 10 loading screen images is not possible. Note, at least 2 images are required for the loading screen to display images.

Compile the materials and see if the image is compiled with .vtex file suffix in game/<addon name>/panorama/images/map_icons/screenshots/1080p/. If the image is compiled successfully, delete the unique suffix in the compiled image name; this compiled file should have the same name as the original material.

tip

In the loading screen , the right-hand side of the screen displays map information text. In other words, the right-hand side of the background is relatively hidden.

Map Icon

Implementing a custom map icon follows the same step as in CS:GO. If the .svg file is prepared, then place it in content/panorama/images/map_icons/. The name of the .svg should not be changed; i.e it should be called map_icon_<name of map>.svg.

Afterwards, you have to compile and check that the compiled svg .vsvg_c file is generated in the game/ folder. The .svg file can be force compiled in the Asset Browser as well.

note

If attempting to create a new .svg or otherwise having difficulties displaying the map logo in the loading screen, refer to the section on creating a CS2-compatible .svg.

Custom Text

Likewise, adding custom map loading text is the same as in CS:GO. The text .txt file does not need any compilation however, and can be directly placed in game/maps/ folder as <name of map>.txt, replacing the brackets with the name of your map.
